Chess Picnic at Legion Memorial Park
The first summer picnic of 2024 took place at Legion Memorial Park on June 22nd, 2024 from 10AM to 6PM. Players from Everett Chess Club, Lake Stevens Chess Club, and Boeing Chess Club joined our picnic. Despite the rainy weather in the morning, the turn out was great with about 35 people coming to the picnic throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who showed up and made this the largest picnic yet! We hope to have at least one more this summer.

For lunch the group ordered a couple of pizzas from Domino’s 🙂
Shortly after lunch Tom C. ran a blitz tourney. It was a 5 round swiss with a time control of 5+2. Total of 21 players participated in the tourney. Unfortunately, the computer died and the pairings had to be determined manually after round 2. Special thanks to David B. and Tom C. for keeping track of scores manually and determining pairings for next rounds.
Conratulations to David B. who finished in first place with a score of 5/5. Second place was shared by Mark B. and Logan H. We later found out there was a mistake in recording scores in Rd3 and Sai P. should have shared 2nd place. So congrats to Sai as well! Thanks to everyone for taking a part in this tourney and making it a fun event!
